Well, we are back from our trip! It was awesome; we had a really great time. We left early last Saturday (May 28) and since they are three hours behind us, we arrived at about 1:00 pm Maui time. First off, we went to Costco to pick up food for our condo and it was strangely like we hadn’t left home; it was all pretty much the same. Fortunately, as we got on the road it was much different. The first thing about Maui we noticed is the wind! The whole time we were there it was very windy on most parts of the island. However, it was fairly hot and humid, so if the wind wasn’t blowing too hard it actually felt pretty good. The road to our condo was along the cost, and after arriving there and unloading our things, our first stop was the beach! The water was so clear and clean and beautiful. It had such striking tones of blue - from bright turquoise to deep navy. I have never been anywhere tropical before, so I don’t know if it is like that other places as well, but here you could get into the water up to your neck and still clearly see your toes!

The water temperature was in the upper 70’s and didn’t bother me at all, but poor Scott would really start to get cold after not too long and would have to go lay in the hot sand to warm back up.
Our condo was just about the cheapest lodging you can get in Maui, and overall it wasn’t anything special except for the fact that our balcony was three stories up and the building was only about 20 feet back from the ocean. It was wonderful sitting on our lanai and watching the sun go down each night.

More to come!
*wistful sigh* Even just these two pictures make it look like a ton of fun. Ah, well, I'll get there some day. :D
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sunset photo. Not sure why, but the silhouette of the island looks really cool and kind of haunting.
